Dear Backers,

today we are happy to announce three further games that will be preinstalled on the RetroEngine Sigma:

* Karate Champ

There probably wouldn’t be a Street Fighter without Karate Champ! Karate Champ established the two player martial arts fighting game genre and is still as fun as it was when it hit the arcades in 1984.

* Lock ’n’ Chase

Data Easts famous answer to Pac-Man was released in 1981 and has the player control a thief who’s mission it it to collect all coins in a maze-like vault. In line with the theme, the thief is chased by policemen instead of ghosts. The players ability to lock doors in the maze gives this game a much more strategic feel.

* Magical Drop 3

One of the younger titles in the collection (and yet 20 years old), Magical Drop 3 is part of a larger series that has spawned numerous ports and sequels. It’s a fantastic game in single and dual player mode and should appeal to fans of Puzzle Bobble and Tetris alike. This version was originally released on Neo Geo.

Last but not least:

We’d like to invite you to check out this cool offer from our friend Vinson Leow. Useful stuff.

* asap-connect

With patent-pending magnetic technology and 18K gold plated connectors, ASAP Connect will change the way you connect to your phone forever. CLICK HERE for 46% off RRP.

Dear Backers,

Happy New Year!

With the New Year,  we are entering the last week of the campaign. We'd like to announce the following "stretch" options: If we manage to raise over US $500.000, and at the moment it looks like we should be able to, we will upgrade all perks that include the "Retro Controller" to a six button style controller with shoulder buttons, reminiscent of the "Saturn" gamepad. It has one more button compared to the originally planned model and therefore should be usable with a wider range of games.

Additionally, we will introduce a new "metallic blue" RetroEngine Sigma finish at USD 500K. All backers will have the choice to either pick the original silver or the new blue finish. We will send out the color selection survey relatively soon after campaign close in order to be able to plan production accordingly.

All the best,

Dear Friends & Backers,

With today’s update we are happy to announce additional games that will become part of the plug’n play software package pre-installed on RetroEngine Sigma. The following games are the first wave of some fantastic arcade titles we were able to secure.

  • Side Pocket:

Side Pocket is a pool billiards game that got released in 1986 by Data East. It is presented in a top down view and offers various two player modes as well as trick shot challenges. At the time, it was widely considered to be the absolute best billiards simulation game.

  • Heavy Barrel

After SNK’s success with “Ikari Warriors” and the ongoing influence of Rambo: First Blood Part II, Data East was able to win over the genre in the arcades with the far superior “Heavy Barrel” in 1987. Presented as a commando style, top down action shooter, the game features a great two player mode and the titular “Heavy Barrel” super-weapon, which is collected in six pieces.

  • Burger Time

Originally published in the U.S. by Bally Midway in 1982 and released everywhere else by original developers Data East, Burger Time is one of the best known arcade titles ever. Featuring the player in the role of Peter Pepper, who needs to walk over burger parts in order to fill customer orders to proceed to the next levels, all the while being chased by Hot Dogs, Pickles and Eggs. Every contact with the unruly burger ingredients causes immediate loss of “life”, but Peter can distract his opponents with - pepper.

With that, we will go on a short break. We will be back on the 27th, with more updates, as well as answers to your comments and messages.

Happy holidays to you and your families!

Dear Backers & Friends,

The time has come to present the first five games that will be preinstalled on the RetroEngine Sigma. But before we get to that, please check out the following video. In the comments and in direct messages we have been asked many questions about the performance our console will be able to deliver - this small demo reel has been created to give an overview of various games for various systems running on a near final RetroEngine  Sigma. We are very happy with the overall performance and hope you will be too.

Here is another closeup of the RetroEngine Sigma:

And now to the games:

1. Globulus

By Innerprise Software Inc., originally for the Amiga.

An action game not unlike Qbert, but with heavy puzzle elements and you can only jump down - but you can turn the map around!

2. Custodian

By Hewson Consultants Ltd., also originally for the Amiga.

In Custodian the player takes the role of the caretaker of an nuclear-powered alien cemetery. If that means anything to you :-)

In this game you also have to solve puzzles, and fight off the alien parasites that have something against you succeeding. You have 10 weapon systems that help you to get the job done. Lots of action awaits!

3. Alien Rampage

Published by Softdisk and developed by Inner Circle Creations, originally for the PC.

Alien Rampage is a 2D Side Scrolling Jump’n Shoot. It has intense action and is quite gory.

4. Jim Power Mutant Planet

Published by Loriciel and designed by Digital Concept. Originally for the TurboGrafx CD and the Amiga.

A very nice looking Jump’n Run that also includes various other gameplay modes.

5. The Humans

Developed by Imagitec Design Inc. - this was originally made for the Amiga.

It’s Lemmings - with Humans instead of Lemmings and a dose of Loderunner.

This is it for today. The next games update will focus on Arcade titles!
